Today half of the Lunch Bunch, the Grant Elementary School folks, are attending the Stockton, CA Edison High School 50 Year Class Reunion. It is being held at Elkhorn Country Club in Stockton.

The five of us from this 1952 class photograph of a combined fourth and fifth grade class are all going together in Ken's car. Notice the limited class size. I am not sure how Mrs Surber handled that many kids. The man in the photo is our school Principal Mr Estes.
I was the only fourth grader of the five going the other four were in the fifth grade at the time of this picture

Since both Linda and Grandma live a bit over thirty miles from Stockton now they are sharing a room a the Residence Inn about a half a mile from my home. Ken picks me up first and then waits in the car while I gather up Linda and Grandma.
Linda forgot her mirror and had to have Grandma help her with her hair

Getting in Ken's car

Next we travel the four miles to pick up Patti who lives on the route to Elkhorn.
Grandma and Patti grew up a block away from each other and have been battling like this for the past 60+ years

We manage to get to the rear parking lot.

We wind up at a 24 hour coffee shop.

Hash Browns with Gravy. This was a staple of our Class at Eddie's Coffee Shop in the late 1950's. We had this after football games and school dances.

Today we have a very big group for Gobo's Lunch Bunch. There are eight of us. Miles, Ora, Gobo, Elsa, Kenny, Patti, Grandma's baby sister Jennifer {substituting for Grandma who is vacationing with her sister-in-law in Australia and Fiji} and me.

We have finally set a date for our trip to Fuji Sushi Buffet in Elk Grove, CA.
Waiting for Fuji to open for lunch which is served from 11:00AM to 2:00PM

Miles and Ora show up last

The buffet has a line with desserts, fruit and some Chinese dishes, but the main attractions are the Sushi Bar and the items that can be ordered via the wait staff.
Here we have ordered a combination Tempura platter with veggies, shrimp, calamari, oysters and soft shell crab

We have also each picked up a few items from the sushi bar. Kenny, Gobo and Miles.

Time for dessert

Munching on dessert and BSing

The next two photos are of the sushi bar.

Here the Lunch Bunch relaxes a bit before ending our lunch party.

For all the food that we have eaten here is what our tab comes to.

Ora and Miles head back home as does Gobo. The rest of us have met at Elsa's and Jennifer wants to visit Oto's Market in Sacramento just a few miles north.
Checking out the watermelons at the entrance to Oto's

Jennifer decides to do some shopping

Patti and Jennifer are the only ones to buy something on this trip

Next we head across the parking lot to Mahoroba Japanese Bakery.

Jennifer wants this next photo on Facebook.
This is the Mahoroba signature item, the Kobe Cream

Today happens to be the hottest day so far this year and will set a record for this date in both Sacramento and Stockton.

Jennifer had wanted a ride on one of my motorcycles from her home to Elsa's. But after checking the weather report we decided an air conditioned car was a better choice for today.

Koby is only going to be in the States from Adelaide, Australia for another few days. So Tuna and I are taking him to lunch at Fuji Sushi Buffet in Elk Grove.
Just west of Highway 99 and on the north side of Elk Grove Boulevard

We have to get here before opening or else it may take awhile to get a seat. It opens at 11:00 AM. That's Koby and Tuna.

We get in early and sit around the sushi bar with little boats carrying plates of sushi.
But the best thing about Fuji is that you can order fried oysters, shrimp, calamari, soft shell crab, and veggies. You can also get raw oysters on the half shell, fish collars, eel and sashimi.
The sushi bar boats

I always go to the back where the "refills" are lined up to replace the plates on the boat.

Here is a platter of tempura, soft shell crab, shrimp, calamari and oysters

My order of eel after I ate half the plate

And the last sample of plates

Now Koby is heading to Rocklin to help his niece unload and unpack their belongings in a move from Arizona. So his daughter Hilary is here from Boston to visit with dad and pick him up to drive to Rocklin.
